Troy is a city located in Miami County, Ohio, United States. The city is the county seat of Miami County. Troy was founded in 1795 and incorporated in 1807. The city is named after the ancient city of Troy, in northwestern Anatolia in present-day Turkey. Troy is located in western Ohio, approximately 40 miles (64 km) north of Dayton. The city occupies a total area of 8.84 square miles (22.92 km2), of which 8.71 square miles (22.54 km2) is land and 0.13 square miles (0.34 km2) is water. The city is home to a variety of businesses and industries, including the Hobart Corporation, a manufacturer of kitchen equipment; the Miami County Courthouse; and the Miami County Jail. Troy is also home to several schools, including Troy High School, Miami County Technical College, and Edison Community College.
