Temple Terrace is a city in Hillsborough County, Florida, United States, adjacent to Tampa. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 24,541. It is the fourth largest incorporated city in Hillsborough County. Temple Terrace was originally planned as a residential suburb of Tampa. However, due to a lack of interest during the Great Depression, the city was never fully developed. The original plan included curvilinear streets, landscaped boulevards, and two golf courses. The city was incorporated in 1925. The first homes and businesses were developed in the 1930s, and the city continued to grow in the 1940s and 1950s. The city is home to the University of South Florida, which was founded in 1956.
