Adamsville is a city in Jefferson County, Alabama, United States. It is part of the Birmingham metropolitan area. The population was 4,277 at the 2010 census. Adamsville was founded in 1887. It was named for its founder, John Adams. The city was incorporated in 1903. Adamsville is located in central Jefferson County, west of the center of the county. It is bordered to the north by the city of Center Point. U.S. Route 11 passes through the center of Adamsville, leading northeast 15 miles (24 km) to downtown Birmingham and southwest 19 miles (31 km) to Bessemer. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Adamsville has a total area of 8.1 square miles (21.1 km2), of which 8.1 square miles (21.0 km2) is land and 0.04 square miles (0.1 km2), or 0.44%, is water.
